Chateau Saintongey Bordeaux – 2009

The first wine I’m tasting will be a Bordeaux I recently bought from Get Wines Direct.

I found the aroma to be fruity, with plum overtones, it also had a lovely garnet red colour. The palate had a first taste of star anise, medium tannins and a tight finish. The age carried well as I’d say this wine would have been a bit stringent when it was younger. The Cab Sauvignon taste definitely came through, there was also a slight sediment. It would be matched well with a fattier meat, or unsurprisingly, game meats.

7/10 and I’d consider buying it again. There was nothing bad about it, I enjoyed drinking it, but I just don’t know if it’s enough to pull it out of everyday table wine for me.
