This was a bargain imported Touriga Nacional from Portugal, purchased from Get Wines Direct. I found the wine to have a clear deep purple colour. It has a medium intensity on the nose, with dried fruit notes and earthy undertones. It had a medium to firm palate, with strong tannins and a well balanced acidity.
I don’t feel allowing this to age more would improve it perceptively, although the fact it was a bargain imported purchase to begin with would normally exclude it from this treatment.
I have found that I really preferred some of the (few) Australian tourigas I’ve had, although admittedly they were far more expensive so you get what you pay for.
