The wine I’m tasting today is one I picked up on a recent trip to McLaren Vale. One of my favourite parts of driving around wine regions is finding new ones I haven’t been to or even heard of before, one of the better vineyards from this trip was Pirramimma, where I ended up spending over $200 which is a lot when I set out intending not to buy wine at all, anyway, on to the wine.
As you’ll see from the photo of the angled wine glass, there is a lovely ruby red colour around the edge of the glass, going in to a warm centre (apologies for being able to see my phone, this was the best photograph of all my attempts to get it).
On the nose, it had strong scent of blackberries but it had a certain subtlety that comes from the McLaren Vale climate. There was a medium length duration.
The palate had quite lovely medium tannins, there was that perfect mouth feel where I could feel I’ve had the wine, just the right amount of boldness without being too overpowering.
Overall it was a quite enjoyable wine which I’ll definitely have again.
This color blend is just awesome. I will definitely try this mouth watering variety.
One can buy such varieties here.
